The Armentum team has broad and diverse experience working with emerging companies in a variety of industries, particularly healthcare, technology, and sustainability. Our clients benefit from our previous experience gained in investment banking; commercial banking and lending; venture, private and public equity investing; business development; engineering and research. Our team has collectively completed over 500 transactions, including debt, equity, IPO and M&A.
Chris has over fifteen years of prior healthcare industry experience as a scientist, business development executive and investment banker. He has been involved in numerous debt and equity financings and strategic transactions in the life science sector, including biopharmaceutical, diagnostic, laboratory tools, services, healthcare IT and medical device companies. He is a former bench scientist and author of 25 scientific publications. He began his biotechnology career at QLT as a research scientist and then joined Affinium Pharmaceuticals, as a business development executive and worked as an investment banker prior to founding Armentum Partners. Chris received his Ph.D. from the University of British Columbia in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and his Bachelor of Science from Queen’s University.
Chris Carthy, Ph.D. Managing Partner
Hutch has over 20 years experience as a healthcare investment banker, operator, and lender, including his most recent role as a senior venture lender at TriplePoint Capital. Previously, Hutch served as Chief Financial Officer of Nexus Dx, a Kleiner Perkins and Bay City Capital–backed start-up. As a healthcare investment banker, Hutch completed over $5 billion of transactions including numerous initial public offerings, private placements and M&A transactions. Hutch began his investment banking career at Morgan Stanley, helped build the West Coast team at Thomas Weisel Partners, and served as a Managing Director and Head of West Coast Life Sciences in Oppenheimer’s (previously CIBC) healthcare investment banking group in Menlo Park. Hutch received a Master of Business Administration from the University of Virginia Darden Graduate School of Business and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Colorado (Boulder).
Hutch Corbett Managing Partner
John has over 15 years technology industry experience having worked as an engineer, project manager and investment banker. He has been involved in numerous debt, equity and merger & acquisition transactions in the technology industry. John previously worked at investment bank Seven Hills Partners in San Francisco, at CIBC World Markets in Toronto and New York in the Technology, Media & Telecom and Debt Capital Markets Groups, and at JP Morgan in New York in the Fixed Income Group. John is also a Licensed Professional Engineer. John received his Master of Business Administration in Finance from the Schulich School of Business at York University and his Bachelor of Science in Engineering and Mathematics from Queen’s University.
John Markell Managing Partner
John has over ten years of healthcare industry experience as an investment banking, hedge fund and private equity professional. Prior to joining Armentum Partners, John was a Vice President at HealthCor Partners Management, a leading healthcare growth equity investment firm. While at HealthCor Partners, John was on the investment/monitoring teams of over a dozen companies, primarily in the medical technology, healthcare IT and healthcare services sectors. Prior to HealthCor Partners, John worked at HealthCor Management, a sister fund to HealthCor Partners Management, a multi-billion dollar long/short healthcare-dedicated hedge fund. John started his career in the healthcare investment banking groups at Lehman Brothers and Citigroup Global Markets. John graduated from Wake Forest University with a degree in analytical finance.
John Sailer Managing Partner
Alex joined Armentum Partners from Wells Fargo Securities, where he was a high-yield bond analyst. Prior to Wells Fargo, he was with Comerica Bank’s Venture Capital Group in Palo Alto, California, where he analyzed and underwrote various loan transactions. Alex graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and is a holder of the right to use the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation.
Alex Youngquist, CFA Partner
Gavin joined Armentum Partners from Oxford Finance, where he underwrote and analyzed early to growth stage companies within the biotechnology and medical device sectors. Prior to joining Oxford Finance, Gavin was a Healthcare Investment Banker at Cowen and Company, where he focused on capital raising and M&A advisory. Gavin graduated from the University of San Francisco with a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Accounting and was a four-year member of the Division I Men's Basketball Team.

Camden joined Armentum from Morgan Stanley, where he conducted valuations primarily for venture backed technology and life science companies from nascent stages of growth to IPO ready. Prior to Morgan Stanley, Camden worked in the Sponsored Finance group at AvidBank. Camden graduated from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo with a Bachelor's of Science in Economics and a concentration in Finance.

Kristina joined Armentum Partners from Vista Credit Partners, Vista Equity Partners’ credit strategy, where she spent almost 9 years building out the credit platform. While at Vista Credit Partners, Kristina was initially involved in most aspects of the fund, including marketing, fundraising, investing, managing leverage facilities, and portfolio management. Prior to Vista, Kristina was at GE Antares Capital for almost 9 years, where she was focused on cash flowing, private equity-backed companies as a generalist lender. Kristina graduated from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor of Science in Finance.

Ian joined Armentum from Wedbush Securities, where he was an equity research associate covering digital advertising, ecommerce, and real estate technology companies. Prior to Wedbush, Ian worked as a buy-side analyst for Botticelli Capital Partners, where he underwrote public securities in the consumer sector. Ian graduated from Georgetown University with a Master’s in Management and received a Bachelor’s in Political Science from The American University of Paris.
